Well first I need to apologize for the
delay in getting out this news. My computer hard drive crashed
and I am just now getting back up online.
Also Parents: I would like to form a Parents Association for the
team. I would like to know how many parents would be willing to
help out. Please email at
papaduke@ptd.net to let me know if you would be interested.
Wrestlers please pass this info out to your parents if they do not
view the website.
THE END OF THE SEASON RECAP
First lets start off with a review of
SECTIONALS:
The Blazers had an outstanding showing as a team at the District 3
Section 3 tournament. We had 5 wrestlers qualify for Districts
by placing in the top 4 at the sectional tournament. Cory Zepp
and Tyler Swartz finished in 2nd place. Mark Carnevale finished
in 3rd and Bobby Orefield and Josh Sheriff finished in 4th place.
Overall the BLAZERS finished as a team in 5th place. A great
improvement over last years 13th place finish. This
achievement is a testament to the hard work and determination put in
by the team and coaching staff this year.
OFF TO DISTRICTS:
The boys as a whole wrestled well at districts. Although none of
the boys made it to the second day of wrestling we were able to win a
couple matches and gain some valuable experience to build on for next
year.
The Key now is "do not be satisfied in making it to the District
tournament but to EXPECT AND ACHIEVE the ultimate goal of finishing in
the top 3 therefore qualifying for STATES!!!!
GO BLAZERS - SEE YOU AT THE MUCH DESERVED
BANQUET GREAT JOB TEAM AND COACHES!!

BLAZER FINISH REGULAR SEASON
WITH A WINNING RECORD OF 15 - 14!!
The
Blazers sealed a winning record this season with wins in their last
two dual meets. They started off Tuesday night with a big win
over Lebanon High School
45 - 36. Seven wrestlers had
pins to help the team seal the win.
The
team followed up that performance on Thursday night with a tremendous
win over Twin Valley. Having won a
40 - 33 match over Twin Valley
earlier in the season, the team was looking to see how they could
improve on that score. They did exactly that! After 4
bouts the match was tied at 12, but that was as close as they would
allow TV to come. The Blazers rolled off 10 straight wins (5 of
which were pins) to put the final score at
57 - 12. What a way to end the
regular season!!
NOW ON TO SECTIONALS!!
TWO TOUGH MATCHES NEXT WEEK
Well
Folks, that time of the Year is just about here. THE POST
SEASON. But first we have a match Tuesday night against Lebanon
High School. This will be tough match!!
We
follow it up with a match Thursday evening against Twin Valley.
If (WHEN) we win these 2 matches we will finish as a team with a
winning record of 15 - 14. A great way to end the season as a
team --- and momentum going into the post season.

BLAZERS PUT ON GREAT SHOW AT BERKS TEAM TOURNAMENT
The Blazers went into Saturday believing they had a chance against
Exeter! They
knew it would be a tough match against the Section 1 Champions.
The
match started at 152 and after Bobby Orfield received a forfeit the
coaching staff made the moves to put the team in contention. At
160 Ken Shirey stepped up to face a tough Jordan Demko.
Then the bump ups started with Corey Guest going to 171, Josh Sheriff
to 189, Mark Carnevale to 215, and Tyler Swartz to 275. The rest
of the line up stepped up and wrestled with everything they had.
With two matches left, a key win (pin) at 140 by Justin Germani put
the team within 4 points. Then in the last bout and everything
on the line, KELLY SKAY, stepped up and put on a show. Kelly
showed the heart and determination of a seasoned wrestler. The
whole gym was watching the end of the match, the place was electric.
Kelly put his man on his back more than once, but with around 30
seconds left in the match it appeared he had him flat --
but no call from the ref!! Kelly went on to win 19 - 17.
The team came one point away (32-31) from Boone's first District
appearance.
